The complaint in the case identifies the two men as Nitin Popatrao Bhoite, a resident of Wagholi and Ganesh Sukhdeo Ranware, a resident of the Mandai area.

On July 3, the deceased, along with his relatives, had tried to persuade the woman to discontinue her conversations with the two men, according to the complaint.
