Maya Sandeep Gole (38), a sweeper working with the city corporation, filed a complaint against her son-in-law for allegedly killing her daughter on Wednesday.

A case under Section 302 (murder) was registered at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station in the late hours of Wednesday. The case is being investigated by assistant police inspector Mamunkar.

The complainant has submitted in her statement to have found her 18-year-old daughter, Rutuja Sandeep Gole, dead at her husband's house in Katraj. The case was registered against Deepak Shivaji Jadhav for strangling her to death over suspicion of extra marital affair.

The complainant, her father and her son had visited Rutuja's house on Wednesday morning in order to bring her home on the occasion of Naag Panchami. Around 2:30 pm, they found her house was locked and returned home, according to her complaint.

The complainant then claims to have received a call from Deepak's cousins saying that her daughter is drunk in Hadapsar. Upon reaching Hadapsar, Deepak's cousins informed Maya that he had strangled her to death this morning.

The complainant went to the deceased girl's residence in Katraj, where she lived with her husband, the suspect, and broke the lock on the door to find Rutuja's body in the living room, said the police.

The complainant also submitted in her complaint that her daughter complained of being physically assaulted over trivial reasons by her husband from the time they were married. The two were married on May 23 this year. The man had also allegedly fought with the complainant days before supposedly killing his wife.
