Pune Puneri Paltan who are desperately trying to gain the top spot in the Zone A moved an inch ahead with an easy 38-15 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi on Wednesday.

After their loss against Haryana Steelers in the previous match, the Paltan players pulled their socks up and gave their best shot against 5th placed Jaipur. Key performer Deepak Hooda once again played captain’s innings with another super 10 (11 points from 22 raids) and received good support from the defenders.

At halftime, hosts were leading 12-7 and kept increasing the lead in the second half. They took the decisive 32-13 lead, after imposing all out on Jaipur. The visitors cried foul for allowing Hooda extra time during the raid, but the result went against them.

With this win Paltan has moved to the second spot with 79 points and their last league match against Gujarat Fortunegiants on October 20 will be crucial for the top spot.

Meanwhile, Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls played out an exciting 29-29 tie. Monu Goyat managed a game-high 11 points for Patna, while Rohit Kumar was Bengaluru’s top scorer with nine points. Bengaluru now bows out of the league having failed to qualify for the playoffs, while Patna now looks ahead to the playoffs after finishing second in Zone B.
