The Pimpri police on Friday arrested three youths for the alleged gang rape of a 21-year-old girl, who had come to her grandmother’s place during summer vacation. Police are on the lookout for their four accomplices as they suspect the crime was committed by seven youths.

The incident came to light after a month when the victim fell ill and her grandmother sent her back to parents’ house at Neral in Raigad district. The girl told her parents about the incident when she was taken to a hospital for medical check-up.

According to the complaint, the girl developed friendship with a youth staying in the same residential complex during her stay with grandmother. She went for an evening drive with the accused when she was given sedatives mixed in a cold drink. The youth committed the crime and later invited his friends through cellphone, and they sexually assaulted the girl one after another.

The arrested have been identified as Saurabh Shetty, Nasib Khan and Harshal Bhaiya, all residents of Pimpri.

The complaint was lodged with Neral police and transferred to Pimpri police Thursday night.
