1.25 lakh children get polio drops on Day 1

A delegation of 21 Rotarians from England helped the district health department in providing polio drops to around 1.25 lakh children at various places in Patiala on the first day of the campaign on Sunday.

The foreign members, including Pam Joyce, Dr Pratha Basu, Marian Basu, and Angela Blogg, also interacted with mothers at the booths.

Hussan Lal, the managing director of National Health Mission in Punjab, came to Patiala to take stock of the polio immunisation camps.

Civil Surgeon Dr HS Bali the delegates work with the International Rotary organisation.

He said the polio campaign would end on February 24. The medical teams will visit door-to-door to ensure all the children below the age of five get polio drops.

Dr Bali said NCC cadets, medical college students and various organisations played a role to make the campaign sucessful.

The medical teams visited places like bus stand, railway station, Gurudwara Dukhniwran Sahib, he said.
