The Border Security Force (BSF) seized 10-kg heroin on Tuesday near the Tota outpost in Amritsar sector along Pakistan.

In a press release issued later, BSF spokesperson and deputy inspector general (DIG) RPS Jaiswal said that at about 12.35pm, a patrolling party had found 10 packets of the drug concealed in a bush near the security fence, 80 metres inside the Indian territory.

"The area is thick with tall grass," he said.

The officer gave credit to the increased border domination, even as BSF inspector general (Punjab frontier) Anil Paliwal told the media how standing wheat crop and adverse weather conditions provided smugglers with cover and made the task difficult.
