11 held, 2 booked forillegal sand mining

The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested Jasbir Singh of Lohgarh village and Roshan Singh of Bangiwal village on charges of illegal sand mining.

Police said the accused violated the orders of the Punjab and Haryana high court by illegally quarrying sand. A case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against them.

A tractor trolley loaded with "illegally-mine"sand has been impounded. The Bilga police, meanwhile, have arrested Gulabdeep and Seikh Mohamad of Uppal Jagir village, Baljit, Rajinder and Gurnek of Dhagara village, Makhan of Kotla village, Gurnek of Shadipur village, Taranjit of Kot badal Khan village and Ramesh of Nakodar on charges of illegal sand mining and impounded nine tractor trolleys loaded with sand.

The Mehatpur police, on the other hand, booked two unidentified persons on charges of illegal sand mining and impounded two tractor trolleys loaded with reportedly illegally-mine sand.
