116 judicial officers of Punjab, Haryana transferred

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday transferred 116 judicial officers of district courts of Punjab and Haryana.

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday transferred 116 judicial officers of district courts of Punjab and Haryana.

The list includes several district and sessions judges, additional district and sessions judges among others, including Gagan Geet Kaur, additional district and sessions judge, Sonepat, who had questioned Haryana Police’s investigation into the alleged Murthal gangrape case of February 2016 during the Jat quota protests. She will be additional district and sessions judges, CBI court, Chandigarh.

An official said transfers were a part of annual exercise undertaken by the high court establishment before summer vacations in June. This is first such list of transfers by the high court administration this year. All judicial officers have been asked to join their respective places of joining by April 25.

Among those transferred include district and sessions judges of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Barnala and Tarn Taran in Punjab and district and sessions judges of Faridabad, Ambala, Hisar, Narnaul Mewat and Kaithal in Haryana.

A number of officials in the high court administration, faculty at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy and some working with legal services authority of different states and high court have also been transferred out of Chandigarh.
