My friend’s brother, Aman, answered the door and asked me to come inside where two other boys, Deepu and Monu, were present. When told that my friend was not home, I tried to leave but Aman and his friends overpowered me and took turns raping me,” the victim said.

In a case of gangrape that has come to light late, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by her friend’s brother and two of his companions at Shri Hargobindpur on April 13.

Police said that out of shame the victim did not report the incident for two weeks, but on Wednesday sounded her mother, who lodged a complaint with the Shri Hargobindpur police. The police were reportedly reluctant to register a case and it was only after the victim’s mother approached senior police officials that a case was registered.

In her complaint, the victim, a Class-7 school at a local school, said that on the evening of April 13, she had gone to her friend’s house in the same locality to pay money for a dress she had got from her. “My friend’s brother, Aman, answered the door and asked me to come inside where two other boys, Deepu and Monu, were present. When told that my friend was not home, I tried to leave but Aman and his friends overpowered me and took turns raping me,” she added.

After conducting medical examination of the victim, a case under Section 376-D of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Assault Act has been registered against the three accused, who are absconding.

Giving information, Batala SSP Daljinder Singh said a special team was formed to nab the accused.
