124 kg poppy husk, 4,380 narcotic pills seized in Patiala; 10 booked

In their ongoing drive against drug peddlers, the Patiala police on Friday recovered 124kg poppy husk, 4,380 narcotic pills, 480 bottles of illegal liquor, 25kg lahan and 5gm smack and booked ten people, including a woman, in this connection.

Police seized these narcotic substances during raids at various places in the district.

Police recovered 120kg poppy husk from Lakhwinder Singh and Balwinder Singh whereas a woman, identified as Laaj Kaur, was booked for possession of 4kg poppy husk at Talwandi Malk village.

As many as 4,380 narcotic pills were recovered from Baljit Singh and Jaswinder Singh at Ghanour and Shambu.

Police also recovered 5gm smack, 25kg lahan and 480 bottles of illegal liquor from Sunny Gill, Jarnail Singh, Karan Singh, Jagroop Singh and Balbir Singh at different places in the district.

The police registered 10 FIRs under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act. Earlier last week, police had booked 25 people and seized 82kg poppy husk, 2,915 narcotic pills and 96gm smack from their possession.
