13 gram panchayats all set for bypolls in Sangrur

All arrangements for bypolls to 13 gram panchayats for Sunday have been completed. In these bypolls, five sarpaches and eight panches will be elected.
Earlier bypolls were to be held in 37 gram panchayats. However, in the intervening period between filing of nomination papers (May 29) and the withdrawal of nomination papers (June 5), as many as 24 panches were elected unanimously.
Additional deputy commissioner (D)-cum- additional district polling officer Vinod Kumar Gagat said in view of this development, bypolls would be held to elect five sarpanches and eight panches in 13 gram panchayats only.
The voting will be held from 8 am to 4 pm through ballot paper and results will be announced the same day.
There are a total of 15 booths for these bypolls and a total of 96 government employees have been deployed on poll duty. One ASI, two head constables, two constables, on e male and one female, along with one home guard have been deployed for every polling booth.
