Chief parliamentary secretary and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA from Sangrur Parkash Chand Garg said that 142 suvidha centres would be set up in the district at a cost of Rs 21 crore.
He said that these suvidha centres would bridge the gap between the government and the public.
He said that one centre would be set up every 4-5 villages so that the people, especially those living in rural areas, could get all services under the Right To Service Act, in their locality.
He said that besides suvidha centers, the government has also decided to upgrade the existing six suvidha centres of the district, whereas the work for the setting up of new 134 centres has already been started and Rs 19 lakh and Rs 15 lakh will be spent for every suvidha centre in urban and rural areas respectively. The government has already allocated `6 crore in the first phase to start the work.
