146 Villages identified as sensitive in Ferozepur

As part of its preparation, to deal with the monsoon and prevent floods, the district administration has identified 146 villages that are vulnerable to floods.Of these, 74 are in Ferozepur, 46 in Zira and 24 in Guruharsahai.

DC Manjit Singh Narang also held a meeting with officials on Wednesday to chalk out a plan in this regard. At the meeting, it was decided to set up control rooms to deal with floods. Locations have also been demarcated to rehabilitate locals in case of an eventuality.

The DC said, "A wireless team has been arranged at Ferozepur, Mallanwala, Hussainiwala and Makhu to keep a check on water level and take precautionary steps.

The water level at Bhakhra Dam is high due to heavy rains. Boats and life jackets have been arranged along with tents, water tankers and other necessary materials required."
