The Punjab agriculture department has distributed 15,000 quintals of wheat seeds on Rs 95 lakh subsidy over the past two years.
KS Sangha, the deputy commissioner of agriculture department, said 5,000 quintals of wheat seeds were distributed at Rs 500 per quintal in 2013-14 and 10,000 quintals of wheat seeds were given at Rs 700 per quintal in 2014-15.
He said 115 selected villages were provided with 2,774 quintals of wheat seeds at 50% subsidy.
The department also distributed 400 quintal moongi pulse seeds at 50% subsidy. Besides, 1,250 quintal zinc sulphate and 1,455 quintal gypsum were distributed among farmers at 50% subsidy.
The department also distributed 18,000 liters of fungus killing 'propikonazol' pesticide and 600 quintals of paddy seeds at 50% subsidy.
He said the department also distributed various kinds of agricultural machineries on subsidy. The farmers were also given more than Rs 1 crore as subsidy to buy agricultural machinery during the past two years.
