As many as 16 people were injured, four of them seriously, after a Palampur-bound Haryana Roadways bus rolled down a gorge near Mubarikpur in Una district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The bus was on its way from Delhi to Palampur. Una superintendent of police (SP) Anupam Sharma said the driver lost control over the vehicle on reaching a slippery portion of the Dharamsala-Hoshiarpur highway around 3am. Other commuters rescued the passengers trapped in the damaged bus and rushed them to a nearby hospital, from where they were referred to Una civil hospital. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered.
HRTC bus plunges into nullah, driver hurt
A Hoshiarpur-bound Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus plunged into a nullah near Dharamsala town on Thursday morning leaving the driver injured. Police said prima-facie it appeared speeding led to the accident. Kangra SP Abhishek Dular said the driver lost control over the vehicle on a sharp curve around 6am, hit a Volvo bus coming from the opposite side and plunged into the nullah. Only the driver, who suffered a fracture in the arm, and conductor were in the bus at the time of mishap. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered.
