A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two persons after her foster aunt sold her off in September.
The woman, a local resident, and her husband had called the minor to the city from Amritsar on the pretext of getting her a suitable job, but instead they sold her off twice and she was raped repeatedly by buyers.
The minor, who somehow managed to get in contact with her parents a few days ago, lodged a complaint against the woman, her husband and two others at the Salem Tabri police station on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Neetu of Salem Tabri, her husband Rahul and buyers SK Puri of Salem Tabri and Ankur of Tajpur road.
The victim alleged that Neetu, who worked with an orchestra group, was a frequent visitor to their home at Amritsar.
She said taking the advantage of their financial condition, Neetu convinced her parents and took her to Ludhiana on the pretext of finding a good job for her.
She further alleged that after reaching Ludhiana the behaviour of Neetu was changed and she had started abusing her.
“Neetu had forcibly sent me with SK Puri, who took me to his home and raped me for at least 12 days. Later, Neetu had taken me back from Puri's house and had even sent me with Ankur, who raped me for four days,” the girl alleged.
“Ankur had sent me back to Neetu, when I started raising objection. After coming back, Neetu has locked me in a room and abused me. Somehow, I managed to get contact with my parents and narrated the whole episode,” she added.
She said Meenu Singh, who claimed to be a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader from Amritsar, had helped her in standing strong against the accused.
Meenu said she had filed a complaint with the Amritsar police, who had then advised them to lodge an FIR with the Ludhiana police, following which they had lodged a complaint at the Salem Tabri police station.
Inspector Maninder Bedi, station house officer (SHO) at the Salem Tabri police station, said the police had booked the accused under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 4 of the Prevention Of Children From Sexual Offences Act.
The police said a hunt was on to nab the accused.
