Adesh University here held its annual convocation and graduation ceremony in the college auditorium on Wednesday.
A total of 165 fresh graduates were awarded degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. 42 candidates were degrees of Bachelor of Dental Surgery while awards of academic excellence were presented to 32 MBBS students and 49 BDS students.
Member of the Medical Council of India Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh was the chief guest on the occasion whereas president, Punjab Dental Council, Dr Randeep Singh Mann was the guest of honor. Chairman and chancellor of Adesh University Dr H S Gill presided over the function.
Dr Aulakh extended his heartiest congratulations to fresh graduates and welcomed young medicos as a valuable and highly skilled human resource of the nation with a great potential.
He hoped that fresh graduates would contribute in building a brain bank and creating a better society.
He emphasised that the induction of fresh graduates into the pool of healthcare providers would be important for the economic progress of our nation.
Vice-chancellor of the university Dr GPI Singh presented the annual report of Adesh Institute of Medical/Dental Sciences & Research. He highlighted the point that having admitted the first batch in 2006, AIMSR achieved recognition by Government of India in 2011 and admission in post-graduation programmes started in 2011 only.
