A 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, sedated and gangraped by four persons in Alamgir village before being dumped near Guru Nanak Dev Engineering (GNE) College on Saturday.
Police said the teenager had left for her school, Government High School, Lohara, around 8 am on Saturday. On the way, the accused intercepted her and pulled her into their vehicle. They then forcibly made her sniff a sedative, following which she fell unconscious. She was taken to an isolated place in Alamgir village, where they gangraped her, and later dumped her outside a college on Malerkotla Road.
When the victim regained consciousness, she returned to her house in Basant Nagar, Daba, and narrated the gruesome incident to her mother, who approached the police.
Inspector Jatinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Daba police station, said the accused had been identified as Sonu, Raja of Shehzada Fateh Singh Nagar, Soni and Nindi.
They had been booked under section 376D (gangrape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he said, adding that a manhunt had been launched to arrest the accused.
