At least 18 people returning from Vaishno Devi shrine pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir sustained injuries when the bus they were travelling in crashed into another bus coming from opposite direction, from Pathankot side, near Vallah village here on Thursday.

However, police are yet to register a case in this connection.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at the Mohkampura police post Tarlochan Singh said the accident took place when drivers of both buses were trying to negotiate a turn. "Both the buses crashed into the each other while negotiating a turn near Vallah, injuring 18 people returning from Vaishno Devi pilgrimage," he said.

"No case has been registered in this connection, as the drivers felt that the accident happened by chance and not due to their fault," he added.

The ASI said the injured were administered first aid and sent home.
