Women are not safe in Ludhiana. In yet another case, four men kidnapped a 19-year-old girl from Model Town area on Sunday and gangraped her in a room at Punjab Mata Nagar area.

The accused kept her hostage in the room for one day but, the victim outsmarted the accused and ran away from the room on Monday night and informed the police.
On being informed, the police registered a case under Section 376-D (gangrape) against the accused in this context.

The accused have been identified as Gagan of Punjabi Bagh Colony of Dugri and his accomplices Sooraj, Deepa and a driver
The victim, who is resident of Dr Ambedkar Nagar stated to the police that she worked as domestic help in houses of Model Town area
On May 31, her friend Aarti, who was also a domestic help, left a message for her through her employers, to meet her in the park in the evening. The victim alleged that when she went to the park to meet Aarti, she was not there, so, she sat in the corner waiting for her.

Meanwhile, Gagan, along with his accomplice, struck there. Gagan, Arti and the victim were acquaintances. The accused told her that Aarti had asked her to come to another park, thus they made her go with them on their motorcycle, she alleged.

But, instead of dropping her at the park, the accused took her to a room in Punjabi Bagh Colony. Two more accomplices of Gagan were already present there.
She alleged that the accused locked her in a room and gangraped her.

On Monday late, when Gagan and two others left the room, she somehow managed to escape by outsmarting their fourth accomplice and informed the police.

Model Town SHO Inderjit Singh said, “The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused. The police have also raided at some places for their arrest, but to no avail.”
