With barely a week of campaigning left, BJP candidate Arun Jaitley on Monday stormed rural belts of the Amritsar constituency, holding a roadshow that witnessed plenty of colour and all guns blazing at Congress candidate Captain Amarinder Singh.

Getting on top of an open vehicle after a brief speech, Jaitley received a thunderous applause. As the senior BJP leader expects a lot of support from the constituency represented by revenue minister Bikram Majithia, Akali supporters thronged in big number to give a red carpet welcome to him.

The one-kilometer-long roadshow saw a jam-packed situation with vehicles moving at a snail’s pace. Crackers, flower petals and drumbeats gave the roadshow a festive look. As the vehicle moved, Jaitley, who is otherwise not so demonstrative, was seen repeatedly waiving his hands to the crowd. Interestingly during the entire roadshow, it was the BJP’s election symbol ‘Lotus’ that dotted the streets.

Launching tirade against Amarinder on Tytler issue, Jaitley said: "The 1984 riots against the innocent Sikh victims is a blot on the face of this country. When an inquiry is on and trial is continuing, it is grossly improper for Amarinder to act as ‘Devil’s advocate’ and give a clean chit to Tytler."

“The entire statement of Amarinder has exposed his real face, and people are not going to forgive him. Even an apology won’t work for Amarinder, as his real face has slipped out,” Jaitley added.

Happy with the impressive gathering, Jaitley said, “Looking at today’s turnout, I can understand that why Amarinder hates the word Majitha. I have never seen a roadshow like this. This has already indicated the outcome of May 16.”

As the Tytler issue has given a fresh ammunition to the SAD-BJP combine, revenue minister Bikram Majithia also attacked Amarinder, saying, “Ever since Amarinder has joined Jaitley in the contest, he is not there. Today Amarinder’s real mindset is revealed. He can go to any extend to please people like Tytler. Amarinder is the biggest ‘sycophant’ of Gandhi family.

Not only Punjab, Amarinder can sell even India to please Gandhi family,” added Majithia.

Earlier, Majithia launched an offensive against Amarinder, saying Majithe Waleo, Capt da sirf shareer hi Ithe hai, dil te dimaag usdaa Lahore vich hai (Capt Amarinder’s body is here, but his heart and mind are in Lahore).

Referring Perneet Kaur as his chaachi, Majithia said, Mere Chaachi ji vi eho chahnde ne, ki is kolo khera chhute te Capt border tapp jaye (My aunt also wants to get rid of Capt and wants him to cross the border).
