2 auto-lifters in police net, again

Two vehicle-lifters have landed into police net again after six months. Police have recovered six motorcycles from their possession they had stolen from different places of Ludhiana city. The police arrested them when they were trying to sell the stolen motorcycles.

The accused have been identified as Avtar Singh and Akash Arora of Haibowal. Their accomplice Kala managed to escape from the spot.

According to inspector Gurbans Singh, incharge of the CIA staff, they arrested the accused from a naka set up near Bharat Nagar Chowk on Thursday. The police stopped the two youths and questioned them on suspicion.

The youths failed to show the documents of the motorcycle they were riding on. Earlier, the accused were lodged in jail for robbery and theft. They had robbed a car from Dholewal area after injuring the car owner in 2007. They had stolen another car from the Haibowal area in 2007. The accused were jailed and had come out on bail just six months ago,” said inspector Bains.

Soon after coming out of the jail, the accused failed to mend their ways and again started vehicle lifting. “We are investigating the matter,” he added.

Locals nab snatcher

Locals nabbed a youth, who allegedly snatched a bag from a local businessman at gunpoint on Friday evening and handed him over to the police. However, his two accomplices managed to flee from the spot.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ranjodh Singh of Ferozepur. The accused had snatched a back containing Rs 10,000 in cash from Sushil Kumar, a usinessman.
