Two city girls, Yeshashwini Sharma and Preeti Chaudhary, have been selected for the prestigious Republic Day Parade at New Delhi this year.

“It is a rare honour for the girls who are a part of the NCC Group, Chandigarh,” said a press statement from National Cadet Corps (NCC).

They have been selected after a rigorous and tough competition with girls from all over the country. Yeshashwani, a student of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-42, said her aim is to make her parents proud and NCC has given her the platform to work towards that aim.

Preeti, a student of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector -11, said that her ambition is to touch the sky and become a fighter pilot.

“By participating in Republic Day competitions, NCC has enabled her to discover her hidden talent,” she said.

Preeti further added, “I recollect Prime Minister Modi stating in his speech during his rally on January 28 last year at Delhi that it was difficult to get selected for the R-Day parade when he was a cadet. He tried but could not get selected. And here I have got selected. I am so happy.”
