A 28-year-old Patiala man and a woman are feared to have drowned after he drove his car into Bhakra Canal near Nabha Road on Wednesday evening.

Although divers were able to locate the Indica Vista car, efforts were on to trace the victims till the filing of this report.
The car driver has been identified as Rahul Kumar, aka Lucky, of Kallar Colony. The other victim is suspected to be a Dheeru Ki Majri resident, with whom he was in a “troubled relationship” for some years.
Bharat Bhushan, a witness said, he was returning from work around 4pm when he saw a car speeding towards the canal. “The driver was sitting calmly, but the woman sitting beside him was screaming and crying as the car plunged into the canal,” he said.
Civil Lines SHO Jaswinder Singh Tiwana said the initial probe revealed the youth and the woman had an affair, but she had refused to marry him. Lucky’s brother Shankar said the victim had shown no signs of depression. “Just yesterday, Lucky got his car repaired from a service centre,” he said.
