2 injured in Sonepat gang war, four booked

Members of two gangs exchanged fire with each other, injuring two people, on the Gohana Road in Sonepat on Thursday.

The injured have been identified as Mehar Singh of Rohtak and Manjeet of Sonepat. The police booked Vikash Dahiya of Rohtat (Sonepat), Vicky, Vijay and Sita of Sonepat under Section 307, 148, 149 and the Arms Act.

However, no arrest has been made so far.

Police said the incident took place when 5-6 people, who came in a Mahindra XUV hit an Innova car on the Gohana road near Jahari and started firing on the car. The people travelling in Innova also fired bullets on those sitting in the XUV. After a brief exchange of fire, both the groups fled and left their cars at the spot.

The whole incident was captured in a CCTV camera, police sources said while adding that 14 bullets were fired from both the sides. They said the two groups might be having some old rivalry.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Sonepat SP Abhishek Garg said that the police booked four people and started investigations.

The police took the two cars in their custody and started investigations.
