The police on Tuesday arrested two Moga-based businessmen on charges of kidnapping the 17-year-old son of a local trader to recover their payment.

Reports said the accused, Vipan Kumar and Des Raj, came to Ajay Kumar's house at Railway Mandi at about 8 am to collect their due payment of Rs 22,000.

Since Ajay was not home, his wife Meena called him up and informed about the visitors. He pleaded with the duo on phone to give him some more time.

The two forcibly took his son Sachin along saying they would release him only after getting the payment. Meena informed an acquaintance, who in turn, alerted the police.

The police called Vipan Kumar and Des Raj to Parbhat Chowk through Ajay on the pretext of handing over the money. As soon as they arrived in their Chevrolet vehicle, they were arrested. The kidnapped youth was recovered from Singriwala area.

A case under Section 365 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been slapped against the accused.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sushil Kumar said, "The kidnappers could have harmed the boy had the police not acted in time."
