2 of family killed, two injured in road accident
A woman and a six-year-old boy died on the spot, while two others were injured when a truck hit them on the Sangrur-Patiala road near Bhawanigarh town on Wednesday.
A woman and a six-year-old boy died on the spot, while two others were injured when a truck hit them on the Sangrur-Patiala road near Bhawanigarh town on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur, in her 40s, and her nephew Maninder Singh, residents of Bharon village of the district. The injured Jasanpreet, 15, and his father Sahib Singh have been admitted to the hospital.
According to the police, all the victims belonged to Bharon village and they were standing on the roadside waiting for a relative, when a truck driver lost control and hit them killing Sukwinder Kaur and Maninder Singh on the spot and injuring Jasanpreet and Sahib Singh.
Bhawanigarh police station in-charge Sikhminder Singh said that the driver of the truck (PB11 H 5345) managed to flee the spot. But the police have booked him under sections 279, 338, 427 and 304-A of the IPC.
