Panic gripped residents of Talwandi Sabo after two people were shot dead late on Saturday evening. Personal rivalry is said to be the reason behind the attack.
The Talwandi Sabo police have booked Raj Singh, Manpreet Singh, Baldev Singh, Pardeep Singh and Satinder Singh under sections 302, 307, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act allegedly for opening sudden fire on four people, including the victims.
Kin of the victims claimed that a group of nine people came in three cars and allegedly attacked their house on Saturday night.
“They also opened fire on Jasvir Singh, Nachhatar Singh, Balbir Singh and Angrej Singh, who were in the street at the time of firing,” they alleged.
Though Balbir died on the spot, Nachtar was admitted at a hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries soon.
However, Angrej received minor injuries in the incident.
Station house officer (SHO) of the Talwandi Sabo police station Gursher Singh said the attackers were drunk. However, he refused to divulge any further detail.
In the meantime, the kin alleged that police of negligence as they failed to reach the spot in time even as the incident took place in the main town, which just a kilometre from the police station.
They alleged the whole incident lasted for 10 minutes, but police failed to reach the spot. In the meantime, accused Raj Singh’s kin alleged that the victims had attacked their house and also torched a car.
