2 young couples, child among 6 killed near Samana

A young couple and their infant son, returning from their wedding anniversary celebrations, died along with another couple, who were their family friends, when their car collided with a utility van near Chupki village in Samana around midnight on Friday. The van driver was killed too.

Gaurav Kumar (28), who was driving, his wife Archana (26), their son Ayaan (1), Gaurav's friend Ankush Garg (25), and his wife Sandeep (23), were returning home to Samana from Patiala when their Hyundai Verna sedan collided with the Mahindra Pik-Up utility van, whose driver Makhan Ram (32) died on the spot too. Anshika (2), daughter of Ankush and Sandeep, was stated to be in critical condition, while the other injured person is Angrez Singh, who was travelling with Makhan in the van that was carrying vegetables. The accident occurred in the middle of the road, it is learnt.

Samana deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sukhdev Singh Virk said that while five of the victims died on the spot, Ankush and his daughter Anshika were taken to Columbia Asia Hospital in Patiala, where Ankush was declared brought dead. Angrez was admitted to the Samana civil hospital with serious injuries.
