The Basti Jodhewal police have booked a 20-year-old man for allegedly morphing the images of a woman and writing lewd letters about her.
The accused also allegedly threw lewd letters about the victim in her neighbours' houses.
The accused has been identified as Manu Jain of New Madhopuri, Sundar Nagar.
In her complaint to the police, Harjit Kaur (20) of Anand Nagar, alleged that Jain had been stalking her for the past few months, and pressuring her to maintain relations with him.
The BA-final year student alleged that when she did not concede to his demands, the accused, in a bid to defame her, threw a packet in her house containing her morphed photographs and a lewd letter about her.
Later, she came to know that Jain had also thrown similar packets in the houses of her neighbours, she alleged.
Kaur said the accused had threatened her around six months ago, but she had not filed any complaint in this context.
Inspector Balwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO), Basti Jodhewal police station, said the police had launched a manhunt to arrest Jain. He added that they suspected involvement of more persons in the case.
A case has been registered under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
