A 20 years' old woman was abducted in broad daylight in a car and then raped at a secluded place, before being dumped in an injured condition on Saturday. The victim has been admitted to the Rajindra Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The accused in the case has been identified as Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, who was known to the family of the victim.
The incident took place, when the victim, a resident of Medhan village, was returning home from Nabha. She was driving a scooter and when she reached outskirts of her village, Kulwinder, who was driving a car, allegedly intercepted her and made some lewd gestures. When she objected, the accused beat her up and bundled her in the car. The accused then drove to a secluded place, where he raped her.
As the girl was crying for help, the accused fled the spot seeing a passerby approaching. The accused also took along the mobile phone of the victim.
Some passersby rushed her to a hospital in Nabha, from where doctors referred her to Rajindra Medical College and Hospital, Patiala.
A complaint was lodged with the police and the accused was arrested in the wee hours of Sunday.
"We have registered a rape case against the accused, who has been arrested," said Bhakshiwala SHO.
Girl raped on pretext of marriage
The Kotwali police have arrested Rajesh Gupta, a resident of Tejbagh Colony, on charge of raping a girl for more than two months on the pretext of marriage. The accused was booked on the complaint of girl's parents. The accused allegedly had lured the girl promising that he would marry her. He took the girl along and allegedly raped her repeatedly and didn't marry her. The girl narrated the sequence of events to her parents, who lodged an FIR, after which Rajesh was booked under sections 363, 366A and 376 of the IPC and subsequently arrested.
Woman beaten up for resisting molestation
Sangrur: A woman of Bidoki Khurd village in Ahmedgarh was beaten up on Saturday by her brother-in-law when she resisted his advances to molest her finding her alone. As per the complaint, the victim alleged her brother-in-law Mohd Sadiq tried to molest her and when she objected, he beat her up and attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
