Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl here on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Istkar, a resident of Khuda Alisher.
Sector-11 police station SHO Gurmukh Singh said the accused hailed from Saharanpur and lived in a rented room in the village. He is a photographer by profession.
The SHO said the victim lived in the neighbourhood of the accused. Istkar took the victim to his room on some pretext where he allegedly raped her. After the incident, the victim informed her family members, who approached the police. The accused was arrested and confessed to have raped the victim.
The accused has been booked for rape, kidnapping and criminal intimidation under sections 376, 363 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector-11 police station.
The accused was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody.
In another case, the police have registered a case against Pinjore-based advocate for making an attempt to rape a Dadumajra resident.
DSP (central) Ashish Kapoor said they have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the victim at the public window. He added that the victim had been called for questioning.
A case for sexual offences, rape and attempting to commit offence has been registered under sections 354, 376 and 511 of the IPC at the Sector-11 police station.
