A 22-year-old property dealer was shot dead by unknown persons at Housing Board Colony, Sector 6 here on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Amit Kumar.
Police said that Kumar received at least four bullet injuries on head and abdomen from a close range.
A native of Vikas Nagar locality of Phoosgarh, located on Karnal's periphery, Amit died on the spot.
Police sources said that about 5-6 youths came on two motorbikes and three of them entered the house and opened fire at the victim.
Amit's friends were also present on the spot but only Amit was targeted by the assailants.
After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot without any resistance.
Superintendent of police Shashank Anand, who rushed to the spot, told reporters, that the police have certain clues about the suspects.
"Deceased was residing at a rented accommodation and few persons came to the house and shot him dead. Names of few youths have surfaced and our teams are investigation the matter," he said.
Deceased's uncle, Joginder Singh told media that few youths from their native Phoosgarh village had a dispute with the deceased over an unknown petty issue and alleged their involvement in the crime.
He said that details of the suspects had been shared with the police.
