Satnam Singh Manawa, vice-president of the United Akali Dal (UAD), Balwant Singh Gopala, president of the Sikh Youth Federation (Bhindranwale) and Jarnail Singh Sakhira, general secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), who accompanied parallel jathedars designated at the radicals’ Sarbat Khalsa held in 2015, have been booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.
A case has also been registered against 20 unidentified persons on the complaint of SGPC additional secretary Bijay Singh, who was injured during the clash, said inspector Rajwinder Kaur, station house officer, Kotwali police station.
The clash took place after members of the SGPC task force evicted Johar Singh, president of Gurdwara Chhota Ghallughara in Gurdaspur district, from the Golden Temple complex when he visited Akal Takht to appear before parallel jathedars.
