Twenty-four more people were diagnosed with diarrhoea at the Civil Hospital here on Wednesday. With this, the total number of the patients has risen to 115 on the fourth day after the first case was reported here.
Most of the patients suffering from the water-borne disease are from Old Moga, including Khanne Ka Agwar, Kular Nagar and Preet Nagar.
Sixty five patients are undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital here, while the remaining have been discharged or shifted to other hospitals.
Meanwhile, the health authorities are waiting for the reports of the water samples that were sent to a lab in Chandigarh.
The authorities have also installed two static outdoor patient departments (OPD) in worst-affected areas and a mobile team was formed to tackle any emergency.
Besides, ASHA workers were deputed to distribute ORS sachets in the affected localities. District health officer Dr Naresh Gupta appealed to the residents to drink filtered or boiled water.
