25 women among 175 booked for pelting stones on police

As many as 175 people, including 25 women, have been booked by the Abohar police for allegedly pelting stones on the police late Monday evening.

Residents of Ghallu village of Abohar sub-division had resorted to pelting stones on the police and other officials of the administration when they tried to lay additional pipes to pump out rainwater from fields in the village.

Two persons, including a head constable, were injured in the incident. The protesters had also smashed window panes of three vehicles, including a police van.

On Tuesday, on the basis of a statement by station house officer (SHO), Sadar, Abohar, Kuldeep Sharma, the police have booked Baljinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Pappu, Kaka Singh, Raj Singh, Gursewak Singh, Balbir Singh, Baljit Singh along with 175 peeople under sections 186, 427, 323, 353, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
