The district police have booked a 26-year-old man for allegedly sodomising an 11-year-old boy at Talwandi Malhian village, 24 km from here on Monday. No arrest has been made so far in this connection.

The victim's mother complained to the senior superintendent of police that Kuldeep Singh of the same village took her son to his home on the pretext of showing a new mobile phone and committed the crime there.

"While my son returned home, he was not feeling well. I tried to ask him that what happened but he refused to say anything. However, when his condition deteriorated, he told everything to me. I went to the accused's house, but he had already left his house," the victim's mother said in her complaint.

Kulwant Singh, assistant sub-inspector of Mehna police station, who is also the investigation officer (IO) in this case, said that after receiving the complaint, they took the victim boy to Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital, Moga, for medical examination.

"We are still waiting for the medical report; however, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway," said the IO.
