Around 3,200 persons died due to cancer in Haryana in 2014-15, health minister Anil Vij told the state assembly in a written reply on Friday.
Vij stated this in response to an un-starred question asked by Congress MLA Karan Singh Dalal and INLD legislator Hari Chand Middha.
The minister said the health department had trained 49 medical officers, including 7 woman officers, in diagnosing most common cancers.
"Fine needle aspiration cytology and Pap smear services have been started in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Mewat for cancer detection,'' he said.
While no financial help was being provided to cancer patients, treatment benefits under schemes like Rashtriya Aarogya Nidhi scheme and Mukhya Mantri Muft Ilaaj Yojana were being given to cancer patients, he added.
