A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by three brothers from outside her house in Haddobet village of Balachaur subdivision here on Thursday.

The incident came to light on Friday when the girl's parents approached the police and lodged a complaint against three brothers - Amandeep Singh, Manjeet Singh and Dara Singh - of Muttomand village.

According to the police, Dharam Pal, the girl's father, complained that her daughter had gone to throw garbage outside the village around 5am on Thursday, but did not return home. He added that they made all efforts to search her in the village and nearby areas, but failed to find her.

He alleged that a confrontation had taken place between him and the accused a few days ago over some issue and they abducted his daughter in order to take revenge.

Station house officer of the Kathgarh police station Gurvinder Singh said a case had been registered against the accused brothers under Sections 363, 366-A, 506 and 34 of the IPC.

He said the police arrested Manjeet Singh on Saturday and they were trying to locate the other accused as they have found that they were hiding in Jalandhar or nearby areas from their call details.
