3 fake travel agents held in Amritsar

Punjab Police have arrested two fraudulent travel agents including the son of a policemen, and recovered rom them nine fake Singapore work visas and 75 passports of job seekers wishing to go abroad.


Senior Superintendent of Police Manmohan Singh told reporters yesterday that Balbir Singh, the son of constable Jatinder Singh,and Ranjit Singh were arrested while one of their accomplices
Rajesh Kumar was on the run.

He said one Jaspal Singh of Badhowal village had lodged a complaint that all the three travel agents who had opened their office in Rayya near Amristar had taken passports of about two
dozen youths wanting to work in Singapore and had paid Rs 30,000 each for getting them Singapore's work visas.

Te SSP added that during preliminary interrrogation, accused revealed that they had already issued about 20 fake work visas to different persons on payment.

"We are on the lookout of all such persons to record their statements and seize fake work visas to Singapore," he said.

Police have registered a case under section 420, 468,471,34 of IPC.
