A team of counter intelligence officers held three persons after recovering hawala money of over Rs one crore in cash from their possession on Monday night in Kartarpur town of district.

Assistant inspector general of police Amarjit Singh Bajwa said that acting on a tip-off, a team led by inspectors Harbhajan Lal and Nachhattar Singh intercepted a Tata Safari vehicle PB08-CB-7544 in Kartarpur, and apprehended Rajinder Singh of Civil Lines, Balbir SIngh of Avtar Nagar and Kishan Lal of New Dashmesh Nagar in Jalandhar. The money was being taken to Amritsar without any valid documentation.
