In an incident that appeared a scene out of a Bollywood flick, a group of three snatchers jumped from one building to another in the old city area after a failed bid to rob a Malerkotla cloth merchant, Imran Hussain.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning near Reikhi Cinema. Three snatchers tried to rob a bag containing Rs 5 lakh on gunpoint from the businessman when he stepped out of an auto. The businessman raised the alarm. The area residents gathered on the spot after which the three snatchers ran away from the spot. While running towards Kesargunj Mandi Chowk, the snatchers came close to a police party in a PCR vehicle after which they ran towards a congested street with several homes.

They entered the house of a resident, Ajay Kumar, forcibly and took the route to his rooftop from where they climbed at least five buildings one after another and came down to the street from the house of one Darshan Kumar. The snatchers also entered into a heated argument with Darshan when he questioned them for entering his house. However, the accused ran away. The accused then hired an auto, footage of which has been captured in a CCTV that has been taken in possession by the police.

Additional deputy commissioner of police Joginder Singh said so far no FIR was registered in the matter as there was formal in this regard.

The police have also seized a motorcycle on which the accused had come to the spot.
