3-kg opium seized in Bathinda

The district police on Friday arrested one person and seized3-kg opium from his possession while his accomplice managed to escape the spot.

SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Gurchet Singh and Amarjit Singh, both residents of Sirsa in Haryana, were travelling in a Scorpio car near Bhokhra village, when a police party asked them to stop.

On seeing the police, Amarjit Singh, who was driving the car, managed to escape.

When checked, the police found 3-g contraband in the car.

Gurchet Singh was nabbed on the spot.

Bhullar said that, during interrogation, the accused revealed that both of them used to supply opium in the Goniana Mandi area for the past some time.

A case under the NDPS act has been registered against both and the police were searching for the absconding accused.
