3 minor girls raped in holy city

Children are often told to avoid talking to strangers, but the trust reposed in their elders by some minor girls in the city proved to be detrimental for them, as they were allegedly raped by their kin and acquaintances.
Three such instances have come to light as the victims approached the police against their tormentors after suffering abuse. With these cases, the tally of cases pertaining to rape of minor girls in the city has shot up to seven this year.
The Amritsar city police have booked three persons in this regard in two different cases, but the accused are yet to be arrested.
In one of the cases, the city police have booked Charnjeet Singh, a resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, under section 6 of the Protection of Children Sexual Act 2012 and sections 376/506 of the IPC in a case registered against him on the complaint his 14-year-old stepdaughter, at Sultanwind Police station.
The victim has alleged that the accused washer mother’s second husband. In the complaint lodged with the police, she has charged the accused with giving her sleeping tablets, following which he used to allegedly rape her. The complainant has alleged that the accused warned her against disclosing the matter to anyone.
Giving the latest instance of her sexual exploitation, the minor girl has alleged that on Wednesday, when her mother was away to Nangli village, the accused made her consume a “fruit drink” after which she became unconscious and he raped her.
Anguished over her predicament, she shared the matter with her teacher, who persuaded her to approach the police. In another case, the police have booked two persons identified as Ravdeep Singh, a resident of Gurnam Nagar, and Saminder Singh of Dam Ganj, under sections 376/506/120-B of IPC and sections 3/4 of the Protection of Children Sexual Act 2012 in a case registered against them at Islamabad police station on the complaint of a minor girl about a rape incident that occurred four months ago.
The complainant has alleged that the duo worked as ‘gatka’ instructors and she had been taking training from them for the past almost nine months.
She claimed that , the two accused sent other ‘gatka’ students for a competition, but detained her and another girl student at a house at Gurbax Nagar.
She alleged that the accused gave them a tablet each and they both went to sleep. When they woke up, she found that one of the the accused was raping her. According to the complainant, the accused threatened to kidnap her father and brothers, if she shouted for help. She further said that she stopped taking gatka training from the accused and brought the matter to the notice of her parents.
Islamabad police station SHO Sushil Kumar said the other girl also alleged that she was raped by one of the gatka instructors and they have regited two cases in this connection.
The police officer said that that efforts are being made to arrest all the three accused and the police are making raids at various places to trace them.
