3 motorcycle-riders killed in Moga road mishap

Three motorcycle-borne youth were killed in a road mishap after they were run over by a speedy truck near Indergarh village under Dharamkot subdivision, 23 km from the district headquarters, on Friday.

The police said that the deceased have been identified as Gurwinder Singh, 12; Veer Singh, 17 and Rajdeep Singh, 16, all residents of Matwani village in the district. A pall of gloom descended on the village as the police conveyed the news to their parents.

According to the police, the youths were going to a religious place Peer Jhiri at Indergarh from Matwani for paying obeisance on motorcycle (PB 19 H-1706) as usual, but when they reached near Indergarh, a truck (PB 30 K-9163), loaded with cement bags and coming from the opposite direction, hit their vehicle and ran over them.

The police brought the bodies to the Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital where post-mortem of the bodies was conducted.

A case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver and further investigations are underway.
