A minor girl, who was allegedly gang raped, broke down when she saw the three miscreants in police custody, who had not only robbed her father but also outraged her modesty in June and fled the spot.
She raised the alarm and stated the agony to the police. Taking immediate action, the police registered a rape case against the accused after conducting the medical examination of the victim at the civil hospital. The girl has recorded her statement before the magistrate.
Earlier, due to social stigma, the victim's father had got a case of robbery registered against the accused, but had not lodged any complaint regarding the girl's rape.
The accused have been identified as Pardeep, 26, and Sunny, 26, of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar and Ravi, 21, of Model Colony, Rahon road.
The police had recovered two sharp-edged weapons, one motorcycle and nearly 27 mobile phones from their possession. The accused are drug addicts and committed crime to meet their need of drugs.
Addressing a press conference, Manmeet Singh Dhillon, ACP (east), said the division no. 7 police had arrested the accused on Saturday from the Tajpur road, following a tip-off and recovered the booty.
The accused used to loot migrant labourers, who were on their way to home after finishing their work.
Inspector Raj Kumar, SHO of the division no. 7 police station, said during interrogation, the accused admitted that they had gang raped a girl on June 6.
"We immediately called the victim along with her father to cross-check the matter. The girl broke down and narrated her agony," said the inspector.
"The victim's father told the police that the incident took place when they were on their way to the Tajpur road. The accused allegedly robbed him and kidnapped her 14-year-old daughter too. They took her to a vacant plot and outraged her modesty," he alleged.
The man told the police that he belonged to Ghaziabad and had come to Ludhiana for treatment of her daughter, who is suffering from tuberculosis. However, following the incident, they went back home.
The accused had executed many snatching and robbery incidents in Sundar Nagar, Basti Jodhewal area and Tajpur road area. Many criminal cases have been registered against them.
