3 travel agents booked for cheating two villagers

The Nakodar city police have booked three people on the charges of defrauding two people of Rs 17 lakh on the charges of sending them abroad.

Makhan Singh, a resident of Haripur village, and Santokh Singh, a resident of Sidhu Pur village, in Shahkot complained to the Jalandhar (rural) SSP that they paid Rs 10 lakh and Rs 7 lakh, respectively to Devinder Singh, a resident of Rajewal village in Ludhiana ,his wife Amandeep Kaur and father Amarjit singh for facilitating his son's and Santokh Singh’s immigration to Canada.

However, they were neither sent abroad nor was their money returned.

SHO Subash Bath said that a case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC and Section 24 of Immigration Act has been registered against the accused.
