Three unidentified bodies were recovered from Bhakra Canal near Gole Wala head under Singo Mandi police post on Bathinda-Mansa border on Tuesday morning.

The bodies were found floating in the canal by some people, who reported the matter to the police and workers of Sahara Jan Sewa, a voluntary organisation. They brought the bodies out of the canal.

In-charge of police post, ASI Amrik Singh said that the bodies seem to be 10-12 days old, as they had started decomposing and were beyond recognition. The three appear to be 45, 55 and around 80 years old respectively.

Singh said that the bodies do not bear any injury marks. He said they have conducted inquest proceedings after conducting a post mortem.

The bodies have been kept in mortuary in Talwandi Sabo Civil Hospital for identification in the next 72-hours.
