A three-year old girl was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man here on Tuesday night. The victim is said to be in a coma.
The incident occurred at 7:30 pm on Tuesday when. The girl was said to be playing with her friends in the Chandigaria area while her family members were busy with a function at their home. The suspect, identified as Azad, allegedly lured her under the pretext of "showing her something unique". He then took the girl to Nehru Park where he allegedly sexually assaulted her and then smashed her head twice with a brick, leading to the girl suffering serious injuries.
The suspect then took her to the Janta Hospital where he told the administration officials that the victim had been injured in a car accident. After examining her doctors found she had been raped and promptly informed the police. The victim's parents, meanwhile, filed a missing person's report following which the police brought them to the hospital.
Azad was arrested at the hospital and the cops claimed he was in an inebriated state. They also recovered some medicines on his person, leading them to drug addict.
Meanwhile the victim has been shifted to Astha Hospital where she has so far undergone two surgeries.
A case has been registered under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 376 A (punishment for rape) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code and Sec. 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
