At least 30 passengers were injured after a PRTC bus went off the road and turned turtle as a school van, trying to overtake a tractor-trolley, partially collided with the bus on the Patiala-Sangrur road near Shakhupura village in the district. The school van, which was empty, escaped undamaged. However, the van driver suffered minor injuries.

As per information, the accident took place when the driver of the school van (PB 11AQ 9888) lost control over the vehicle and it had a brush with the bus (PB 13X 8538), which was coming from the Patiala side.

The windowpanes of the bus got smashed completely and the bus rolled down the road. The police, with the help of the local people, shifted the injured passengers to various hospitals. Station house officer (SHO) Pasiana Puneet Singh said that some of the injured were admitted in hospitals in Sangrur and the people with serious injuries were taken to the Rajendra hospital in Patiala.
